Furthermore, exposure to environmental toxins like pesticides, pollutants, and heavy metals, as well as smoking, can directly damage mitochondrial membranes.

To support mitochondrial health, a balanced diet rich in nutrients like antioxidants, regular exercise, and stress management are essential. These habits help promote mitochondrial biogenesis and protect against oxidative damage, ensuring mitochondria continue to power the body’s metabolic functions efficiently.
